Throughout my life, I tried taking shortcuts until I finally realized the way to succeed was by having the right tools and support.

I have always been passionate about helping others and now I want to pay it forward! I know what it is like to feel discouraged and not know which way to turn. Let me help you!

Meet Dr. Laura Baltodano

 

I have been on an amazing journey to better health and fitness for the past several years and became inspired to help others lead happier and healthier lives. As a result, I became an ACE Certified Health & Wellness Coach.

I know what it is like when you are struggling and frustrated. When you don’t know what to do or where to turn to make changes that you know you need to make. Words cannot describe what it means to me to be able to help others on their journey to better health! My “why” for becoming a health and wellness coach is YOU!

I am registered yoga teacher and working on becoming qualified to teach mindful based stress reduction (MBSR). I am thrilled to be able to bring yoga, guided meditation and stress management to my clients because they are so important to overall wellness.

My Story

 

Since I was very young, I have had in inherent drive to help others. My entire life, I have searched for avenues in which to make a difference in people’s lives. That drive is what ultimately directed me to a career in veterinary medicine, not only because I love medicine and animals, but because I also love helping people.

I had struggled with my weight as long as I can remember, indeed, even as a child. Over the years, I have tried all sorts of pills and quick fixes to no avail. In 2005, I decided I had had enough and started Weight Watchers.

Over the course of almost one year, I lost approximately 75 lbs. I was the thinnest I could remember since perhaps junior high school. Even then, I was not happy with my body. I was flabby and I hated it.

Fast forward a couple of years and the commencement of my college years. My focus on anything besides my studies and family went out the window. I slowly packed on 25 lbs. I had all the excuses in the world as to why I couldn’t eat right or exercise…of course, the rigors of vet school were no help.

In my mind, I would start focusing on my health the next day, surely before I hit 40…then something would happen and I wouldn’t do anything to make a change.

Everything I had done before to lose weight no longer seemed to work, Weight Watchers included.

FINALLY, graduation came.

With a “normal” life, I could finally have the time to eat healthy and exercise, right?! Nope, the excuses kept coming and I packed on another 5 lbs. Instead of making a lifestyle change, I took more pills to try and control my appetite which had gone haywire. That didn’t work for long.

At that point, frankly, I was tired of being sick and tired. I was desperately looking to make a change, but just didn’t know how. I knew that I needed to begin exercising, but the thought of going to a gym made me cringe!

I had not the slightest clue what to do in a gym to get the results I was after. I looked into CrossFit, but the hours were not reasonable to work into my schedule on a consistent basis, but I was determined to make a drastic change. Once I began experiencing the benefits of eating right and exercising at home, I have never looked back!

I have learned so much along the way about my body and leading a healthy lifestyle. My relationship with food has completely changed. I LOVE to exercise which is something that I would never have imagined in a million years! I can say that in my 40s, I am now in the best shape of my life! I have found my second passion, health and fitness!
